Hello all,

So, I'm Desslok.  It is a crime that it's taken me this long to join this community.  I take no small amount of pride in saying that I had a hand in creating it, if only because I helped bring these crazy kids together in the first place.  Smiley

Wow, it's been a while. I forget how to introduce myself.  So, I'm 40 (ouch), married, 2 daughters (9 and 11), and work for the government (nothing particularly exciting).  I started my fanfic "career" (if I can call it that) writing Ami/Mako fics:  a bunch of short stories and a couple "epics."  That was a while back, but they're still out there on fanfiction.net and shoujoai.com.  I think after I finished "Interregnum", I'd pretty much said everything I had to say about the Sailor Senshi and the Muse deserted me for a long while.  I got reinspired by Harry Potter and cranked out some Harry/Ginny fics and a lengthy Draco/Pansy story I co-wrote with someone.  The 7th book pretty much killed my muse there, as JKR did a great job of wrapping up those plotlines.  I also scribbled out a few "Office" fanfics (Jim/Pam).  Since then most of my writing has been for an ongoing, online roleplaying game (Legend of the Five Rings).

I've been a gamer since 3rd grade, working my way through "White Box" DnD, AD&D, Traveller, etc. all the way up to the present, with occasional gaps for college, etc.  I got into anime in middle school when the local TV station showed Star Blazers, the US translation of Space Battleship Yamato, which I became obsessed with (hence the pseudonym).  I dove back in wholeheartedly through Sailor Moon around 2002/2003.   Doc got me completely addicted by slowly and surely exposing me to Utena, which is simply incredible.  Netflix did the rest and I've been working my way through many of the classics ever since.

Favorite anime includes Sailor Moon (Season S, naturally), Cowboy Bebop, and Azumanga Daioh (I really really love AD, and Yotsuba&! too).
Favorite manga include Fruits Basket, AD, Yotsuba&!, and Megatokyo.   My wife is (in my mind, inexplicably) addicted to Nana, but I don't see the charm personally.

I guess that's good enough for now.

Ah... Another gamer.... ^_^

I really only got into Sailor Moon. My girlfriend is a big Utena fan (She adamantly refuses to join this forum.. She's made one post only to make fun of me catching fire.. -_-; meanie.) though, I'm the gamer in the relationship!

40 isn't that bad... If you hit 50 and start doing talk radio shows I'll say ouch...

2 daughters that may, or may not be corrupted by Sailor Moon..... Seriously. So far every woman who are big fans of Sailor Moon that I know of are atleast somewhat leaning on that side of the fence!!!

Um.. anyways... Yeah.. Absorbed by Harry Potter... *ahem*

I guess from one gamer to the next...

Favorite modern day video game = Mass Effect. -_-; I am seriously a fangirl over that game... Shepard/Liara forever.. And even before I made my comment on how much I loved the game in the VG discussion thread, I didn't even know that Liara was pairable with anyone! @_@

Umm.... Yeah...

Mass Effect is my favorite PC game and, yes, I did roll a female Shepard and yes she ended up with Liara.  I took a savage pleasure in sending whatshisname (the potential male love interest) to die, too.   Smiley

Kaiden..

Oh god.. I've found a new best friend.... Yes.. Kaiden IS the one whome takes the 1 way train to oblivion! ^_^

So are you a Biotic aswell? I mean for me there's nothin' better than making people fly for a mile and a half.... Also makes the end game sooo much easier (Biotic lift or throw.. Insta-kill.. YAY! ^_^)

I hate how everyone complains about the 'Find the keepers' 'Mineral deposit' quests.. On the Xbox there's no achievment for completing them, people just don't get that they are extra money and EXP spots you get for exploring the uncharted worlds.... Meh...

Also.. Bioware is a cruel company... Making us think that they killed Shepard... Someone even made a song about them...

(Based off Still Alive from Valve.)

I know I may just have people chasing me with torches and pitch forks.. But there's some awesome Mass Effect fanfiction.. Rising from the Ashes, and Prioris' work are just awesome. ^_^

But perhaps this should go to the VG Disc. thread. Heheheh. ^_^

Dess!  OMG!   Kiss

It's great to see you here.  I want you all to know that Dess did indeed play matchmaker for us... and probably gritted his teeth in total frustration over it taking us so long to actually do anything (Otalia fans take note, sometimes it really does take that long...).  He, or at least his daughters, are also largely responsible for Kara's Sailormoon dolls.  Ha!

What have you been up to lately?  Me and Doc are currently obsessed with Guiding Light.  For her it's a new thing.  For me, it's coming back to an old friend.  I'm on the fence in my faith on how well the show will end this September, but's it's been nice finding it again.  As a result of it, though, everything else is getting neglected.

Yeah ya told us all a while back how you guys got together, and what part Desslok played in it. ^_^

Yes.. Guiding Light.... I can't get into shows like that in all honesty...

And yes! Your adoring stalk... Err.. FANS! Yes.. Fans.. And Sailor Moon I keep pronouncing it Sah-lore Moon due to watching PGSM too much.... -_-;... Oh and I've been getting back into it.. ^_^ (And Dark Ami is freaking devious... But Makoto making Ami soup, and taking her to the amusement park and such, + waiting for her at the hospital was really cute... Poor Ami. ;_;)

Hmmm.... You guys were right when you said that the series evolved with time, they get better at acting, and thus far, Rei and Makoto are my favorites.. And Ami SOOO has a crush on Usagi.. IT'S OBVIOUS! >_<

Guiding Light?  Really?   Hmmm.. Heather actually got me into that way back when (over a decade ago).  I remember some guy named Buzz.  Are they actually ending it??  It's been on for decades!

I'm good.  Work is kind of a pain as I've been on the road a LOT.  I'll actually be down in Ft. Lauderdale for a whole day and a half, but I'm guessing that's a bit out of your way.  Smiley

Oh, and poke Doc with a stick or something.  If she's appointed you "Official Desslok Liaison" or something, I'm ok with that, but she's going to have to either email or forum reply directly at least once!!  Wink

Yeah, Guiding Light.  I'm going to enjoy the last 4 weeks of the show and indulge in a little fanfic, just to get the itch out.  Buzz is still around, he's on a road trip to discover his late wife this week as an excuse for them to bring Fiona Hutchinson back for a day or two.

Doc is terrible at communication.  I'll keep poking her to come say something, though!  What's really scary is that she had just said, "I wonder how Jim's doing" right before you showed up here.  I'll have to go poke her some more to actually e-mail you or something.

Oh em gee!

It's a Desslok! You've probably never heard of me, but I've sure as hell heard of you - Interregnum is one of my favourite SM fics! Goes right up there with everything by our good Crawlspace, and the highly entertaining classic "Mamoru Must Die".
